The ultra-luxury destination located in the Prince Mohammad bin Salman Natural Reserve along Saudi Arabia’s north-western coast – AMAALA – has signed a major contract with Haif Trading and Contracting Company for infrastructure development.
The contract includes the development of the first phase of AMAALA’s accommodations at the Employee Village in Triple Bay.
Scope of work for Haif Trading and Contracting Company will include constructing a network of paths, walkways, street lighting and public realm landscaping, as well as bulk earthworks and Wadi diversion works.
Salman Bin Haif Al-Qahtani, deputy CEO of Haif Trading and Contracting Company, said: “We are thrilled to partner with AMAALA to build modern new infrastructure for their Employee Village. Our designs lay a solid foundation for best-in-class employee living facilities and deliver optimal outcomes for inspiring lifestyle experiences.”
“We are closely aligned with AMAALA’s commitment to champion employee welfare and will work collaboratively to provide a liveable and sustainable community for all,” he added.
The contract also covers the construction of utility hubs, a potable water network, a firefighting water network, an irrigation network, a sewerage network, and storm water drainage. Work at the project has already begun with site mobilisation activities, which will be followed by bulk earthworks in February and deep levels services in April.
The AMAALA Employee Village is located on the Red Sea coast, approximately 13 km north of the wider Triple Bay masterplan and will accommodate nearly 20,000 employees. The village is said to feature a range of residential homes, coupled with recreational facilities and amenities, and is designed to enable a strong sense of community in a resort setting.
“AMAALA will set new benchmarks in luxury community living, and this ambition starts with state-of-the-art residential facilities for the talented people who will eventually operate the destination,” said John Pagano, the CEO of AMAALA.
“We are proud to partner with Haif Trading and Contracting Company, who share our vision to shape a new standard of excellence in accommodation that addresses both the diverse needs of our workforce and ensures that each member of this community lives and breathes our sustainability ethos,” he stated.
AMAALA’s progress update
Phase One of Triple Bay is underway and is expected to be completed in 2024. It will consist of eight resorts offering upwards of 1,200 hotel keys, and over 250 contracts have been awarded to date worth in excess of $1.3 bn.
AMAALA will be powered by 100% renewable energy for which the resulting saving in CO2 emissions to the atmosphere will be equivalent to nearly half a million tons each year. In addition, the destination will operate with a zero-carbon footprint once fully operational.
In line with this, contract was awarded to Saudi-based Haif Trading and Contracting Company, in recognition of their extensive understanding of the local landscape and capabilities in creating short and long-term residential communities, coupled with their high environmental standards, according to a statement from AMAALA.
