SAL, Saudi Logistics Services has signed a contract with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) to establish a logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port. The 54,000 sq m logistics facility is set to boost sea and air connectivity, playing a role in improving the quality of the port’s logistical support, and elevating the kingdom’s global position in logistics services.
The President of the Saudi Ports Authority, Omar Hariri, and the Managing Director and CEO of SAL, Faisal Albedah, signed the contract at Jeddah Islamic Port.
SAL’s Logistics Park
The agreement is an extension of SAL’s broad vision to become the logistics champion for a globally connected Saudi Arabia, and its strategic goal to expand its offerings across the entire logistics sector, leveraging its expertise in cargo handling, logistics solutions, and strategic business units.
It also aligns with Mawani’s strategic objectives by offering investment opportunities for the private sector, developing sustainable capacities tailored to partner needs, enhancing local and regional transportation, distribution, and storage operations, and increasing the number of logistics service centres for re-export to 30 by 2030.
These efforts are in line with the Saudi National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services and aim to reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
Jeddah Islamic Port, the largest port on the Red Sea, stands as a testament to excellence in transit trade and container and cargo handling, winning several accolades including the “Port of the Year” and “Advanced Infrastructure” awards, as well as the “Best Port” award in 2022 at the International Green Shipping Summit Awards.
Additionally, Jeddah Islamic Port secured the eighth position in the Container Ports Performance Index for 2021, issued by the World Bank. These achievements reflect the port’s exceptional operational performance, infrastructure development, and integrated logistics areas.
