NEOM has awarded a contract for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) as well as testing and commissioning a water recycling plant at Al Badaa.
The contract is worth over $84.3 million (SAR316 million) and has been awarded to a joint consortium of International Water Distribution Company (Tawzea) and Spanish water and environment system specialist Lantania.
The scope of the work includes engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning for the Al Badaa water recycling plant enhancements projects, as well as an interim biosolids treatment facility, an interim innovation centre and a biosolids demonstration centre.
The project is a collaboration between NEOM’s ENOWA and the Tawzea-Lantania joint venture, said Mohammed Halawani, CEO of Tawzea.
The contract will run for 24 months, beginning in Q4 2024.
Tawzea is a subsidiary of Sustained Infrastructure Holding Company (SISCO Holding), which holds 50% of its shares and made the announcement in a filing on Tuesday with the Saudi bourse Tadawul.
SISCO Holding is the kingdom’s first publicly listed infrastructure and logistics investment holding company.
ENOWA initially renovated the Al Badaa water recycling plant in November 2022 to provide recycled water for construction in NEOM.
Last year, ENOWA announced an agreement with the Danish Water Alliance — a collaboration between Aarhus Vand, NIRAS Greenland A/S, AVK International, GRUNDFOS, Danfoss and Hexa-Cover A/S, to advise on future water recycling plant operations.
